After a long campaign, election season has come to an end for four faculty societies, leaving them with their official 2018-19 executive teams.

Concurrent Education Student Association

Team CReaTe was elected with a 98.6 per cent vote of confidence to be the ConEd Student Association’s (CESA) 2018-19 executive team.

“I am so thankful to be the incoming president,” President-elect Tiffany Wong told The Journal. “I’ve been considering this role since first-year, so I’m really thankful to be able to hold this position now. We’re so excited to create change with you guys.”

Vice-President (External) elect Sarah Reddick said she’s “looking forward to next year,” while Vice-President (Internal) elect Connie Trinh added she’s especially excited to “hire [their new council.]”

Computing Students Association

In the only contested race for the Computing Students’ Association (COMPSA) elections, Niyousha Saeidi beat out Roberto Ruiz for Vice-President (University Affairs).

Max Keleher was elected President, and Jessica Dassanayake was elected Vice-President (Operations).

Saeidi expressed her enthusiasm about being elected in a statement to The Journal.

“Although elections were stressful, now that CompSci has chosen me to be their Vice President (University Affairs), I will do anything in my power to work towards my goal of development,” she said.

At the time this article was written, COMPSA’s exact voter turnout and breakdown hadn’t been released.

Saeidi was a first-year intern last year and currently serves as the Social Coordinator for COMPSA. In addition to her position at COMPSA, Saeidi is involved in many other activities on campus. She’s the Editor-in-Chief for the ASUS Data Journal, an orientation chair for CompSci Orientation Week, a workshop developer for the Software Developers club and a coordinator for the not-for-profit organization Pseudolabs.

Engineering Society

The only contested position in the Engineering Society (EngSoc) elections saw Behshid Behrouzi elected to Vice-President (Operations) over Liam Tharp. Behrouzi received 54.2 per cent of the votes, while Tharp received 45.8 per cent.

Carson Cook was elected President with a 93.1 per cent vote of confidence and Emily Wiersma was elected Vice-President (University Affairs) with a 93.4 per cent vote.

The Journal was denied access to EngSoc’s reveal gathering at Clark Hall Pub and was unable to gather any quotes from the elected candidates.

Commerce Society

Team JMT received an 89.4 per cent vote of confidence from Commerce students, stemming from a 30 per cent voter turnout this year.
