This shirt can be worked into an outfit for many occasions. Available in an array of colors, it’s versatile and can balance out a short skirt or dress up a pair of boyfriend jeans.

How to wear it:

1. Wear it out as a dress: Cinch it with a belt and throw on some heels- perfect for a night out. Wear it with a purse and sunglasses if you’re traveling or going to an afternoon event such as a wedding shower or gallery opening. Keeping the accessories neutral allows the shirt to pop.

2. Channel your inner hippie by pairing it with a feminine, lightweight skirt (any length works). Tie it up to accentuate the waist and add structure. We paired this look with a statement necklace and watch to add some colour and character to the otherwise neutral outfit. We finished it off with a slouchy purse and leather sandals to achieve the boho vibe.

3. Keep things casual with a cute pair of shorts and some fun accessories. Tying the shirt keeps things interesting, as does the charm bracelet. The simplicity of the shirt is the perfect base for accessorizing with a hat. This is a great summer look that will take you from the sidewalk to the beach.

4. Here we used colour blocking, taking advantage of the bold pink colour. This kind of look is versatile and works for a day of shopping, going to the movies or going out for dinner. Coloured jeans are big this season, so we played up this trend and incorporated unique accessories such as the embellished belt and flats. The jewelry finishes off the outfit, adding texture and breaking up the solid colors.

You don’t need to stick to American Apparel to achieve these looks. There are lots of options out there when it comes to finding a chiffon button down. Look for shirts that are lightweight, sheer and oversized. We love the colour selection that American Apparel offers, but if neutral is more your style then be sure to check out other various retailers, or if you feel like thrifting check out your local thrift shop!
