The University announced on Thursday that a student living in residence has tested positive for COVID-19.

In a statement, the University said it was informed by Kingston, Frontenac and Lennox & Addington (KFL&A) Public Health earlier today. 

Though the student is self-isolating, KFL&A is still investigating and will be contacting any close contacts of the positive case.

This is the third Queen’s student who has tested positive for COVID-19, all of which have come in the past eight days.

 “Our priority is the health and safety of everyone, including students, staff, faculty and the Kingston community,” the University wrote. “It is good ongoing practice to self-monitor for COVID19 symptoms including but not limited to fever, difficulty breathing, and new or worsening cough and to follow precautionary public health measures, including the use of a face covering, physical distancing, frequent hand washing, and staying home when sick.”

The University has special protocol in place for managing case contact in residence, including the ability to isolate and support students who self-identify symptoms of the virus.
