2016 will mark the 90^th anniversary of Queen’s University Homecoming. Along with the newly completed Richardson Stadium, there will be more changes on the horizon for both current students and returning alumni.

In an article published on July 29, Queen’s administration explains that the new seating arrangement in Richardson Stadium will do away with the separated sections for students and alumni and instead integrate the two promoting more interaction between demographics.

However, it will also limit the playing field to athletes and athletics staff only, marking the end of the tradition where alumni parade around the field during half-time.

Students will still be able to participate in a number of other homecoming traditions centred on the football game as well as some new ones including the first Reunion Zero that will bring back the class of 2016 who would traditionally have had to wait until five years after graduation to return.

For the first time, students from the graduating class of 2016 will be returning to Kingston to join returning classes in their ‘zero’ years since graduation.

Queen’s administration has yet to offer any further comment on the cancellation of the half-time parade, stating only in their article that they are sad to say goodbye to the cherished tradition.
