Queen’s names Brenda Brouwer interim dean of Smith School of Business

Effective Nov. 18, Brenda Brouwer will replace Teri Shearer as interim dean of the Smith School of Business.

Brouwer will replace David Saunders, who was the business school’s dean for the past 16 years, while he’s on administrative leave.

Prior to her appointment as Smith School’s interim dean, Brouwer spent eight years as dean of Queen’s School of Graduate Studies and recently completed a secondment with the Vector Institute for Artificial Intelligence as head of academic partnerships.

Brouwer has earned a PhD in neuroscience from the University of Toronto, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Waterloo and a Master of Science in Biomechanics from McGill.

The University announced Saunders’ temporary resignation on Oct. 15, indicating that he would return to his faculty position at the business school in 2023.
