Sweet and easy granola

While I’m all about having a do-it-yourself attitude when it comes to cooking, I definitely have my limits. My ideal recipe consists of cheap ingredients, delicious flavours and most importantly, minimal prep time. Even though I don’t mind working on my schoolwork while something sits in the oven, I struggle with those recipes that take up an entire afternoon of my precious weekend time.

As confirmed by my housemates, this granola recipe is delicious and only uses ingredients that are usually already hanging out in my cupboards anyways. With a total prep time of less than 15 minutes, customize this quick and simple recipe by adding the mix-ins of your choice.

Ingredients:

  • two cups of rolled oats
  • one cup of sugar (I used cane sugar but white is fine)
  • one teaspoon baking powder
  • three eggs
  • one tablespoon of vanilla

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees and line baking sheet with parchment paper
  2. Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix
  3. Heads up – this dough is sticky
  4. Flatten dough onto baking sheet until it resembles one giant rectangular cookie
  5. It should be 1.5 to 2 inches thick
  6. Bake 50 minutes and cool for 10 minutes
  7. Cut into strips; these don’t need to be separated, this is just so heat gets into the middle
  8. Bake another 30 minutes or until the edges are dark brown
  9. Cool completely
  10. Crumble and enjoy

Whether you’re taking a study break or making yourself a healthy snack, this is the perfect recipe to get creative with mix-ins or rely on the comfort of the classic snack.
