This month, Queen’s will be adjusting the salaries of roughly 200 faculty members currently employed at the University. Faculty members were notified of the change in August, according to a statement published on the Queen’s University Faculty Association (QUFA) website.

In an interview with The Journal, QUFA President Kayll Lake said the adjustments were a result of “an analysis for anomalously low salaries,” based on long-standing provisions in the University-QUFA Collective Agreement.

The adjustment of salaries will compensate faculty members whose salaries were deemed to be irregularly low compared to others.

The adjustments were recommended by the Anomalies Side-Table (AST), a sub-committee of the Joint Committee on the Administration of the Agreement (JCAA). The JCAA is a labour management committee that reviews the administration, interpretation and operation of the Faculty’s collective agreement with the University.

Retroactive amounts will be paid to faculty members within the next two pay periods.
