Vivian Yang voted next ResSoc Vice-President Judicial Affairs

As voting closed Monday night, Vivian Yang was announced the next residence society (ResSoc) vice-president of judicial affairs the following morning via email.

Yang won 63.8 per cent of the vote over competitor Helen Wang, though just 7.0 per cent of eligible student voters cast their ballot in this election.

“I feel very happy and honoured with such a big voter difference,” Yang said. “I was very surprised that I got this amount of votes but I hope that I can keep up my end of the bargain and advocate for everything I mentioned in my campaign.”

Yang thanked her competitor for a great campaign season.

“Helen ran a great campaign and has some great ideas for residence,” Yang said. “It would be a shame if she doesn’t work for residence one way or another.”

ResSoc will host the election for Vice-President of Residence Affairs over the next week, with the nomination period closing Feb. 3.
