In the last couple of months, Nathan Gallagher has proved that he’s always up for a challenge.

Whenever a band needs to be interviewed last minute, or a concert reviewed for the Arts section, Nathan makes himself available to get the job done. Since starting with The Journal, he’s taken criticism in stride, and with each article submission, he gets even better.

In only a few weeks, Nathan has developed his voice for Arts writing and has proved to have a real knack for journalism.  

He’s also been a lifesaver for the Lifestyle section. Since pitching his first Lifestyle article early in September, Nathan has consistently contributed to the section, even under tight deadlines. He not only pitches strong, original ideas, but follows through by punctually sending in his articles and being an active member in the editing process.

Nathan’s ability to connect current issues to student life and to his own experiences make him an excellent Lifestyle writer. His commitment to delivering top-notch articles on short notice and willingness to workshop his ideas make him an outstanding contributor.

Rebecca Lourenco

Since the beginning of the school year, Rebecca Lourenco has been our most eager news contributor by far.

By pushing herself more and more outside of her comfort zone with each new article, Rebecca demonstrates the courage and guts The Journal admires in its reporters. Rebecca’s willingness to contribute has quickly earned her staff writer status, and we’re sure her work will only continue to improve and impress.

We look forward to working with her even more over the school year.

Claudia Rupnik has Lifestyle running through her veins. Since she began contributing to the section early last year, she’s proved time and time again that she has the passion and writing chops to consistently deliver tight, insightful stories.

Whether her article is meant to delight readers or plunge into an emotional subject, Claudia’s distinctive voice always captures our attention and admiration.

Her enthusiasm for the section is unmatched, evidenced by how carefully she crafts each article, her accommodating and eager attitude, and punctuality sending in stories. She’s even continued to be a valuable member of our team despite the fact she’s currently studying abroad in Paris for the semester. 

At the end of September, Claudia wowed us once again with her Postscript about long-distance relationships. The piece stood out because of her willingness to be vulnerable and recount the details of her relationship with her brother to Queen’s students.

Claudia has also played a vitally important role behind the scenes. Her help as a columnist this semester has been invaluable—we don’t know what we’d do without her.

Hannah Stafl

Hannah Stafl tackles each story assignment with determination to make the article the best it possibly can be and her passion for accuracy and depth is a gift to our paper.

Following her own instincts, Hannah is able to chase a story down and make it her own. Always willing to contribute, Hannah both makes our lives easier and better at The Journal. Hannah has also been an invaluable member of the Lifestyle team.

As one of the two Lazy Economist columnists, she is a reliable and punctual writer who always delivers well-researched and insightful pieces.
