Queen’s is reporting 61 active cases of COVID-19 as of Thursday evening, including 14 in residence and 47 off-campus.

There have been 36 new cases of COVID-19 at Queen’s during the week of March 15-21, according to the University’s case tracker—four cases have been reported in residence, as well as 32 off-campus.

The University sent an email to students Monday afternoon encouraging anyone who has been in close contact with someone outside of their household without wearing a face covering or not physical distancing to get tested in the next two weeks, even if they aren’t showing symptoms.

Students can get tested for COVID-19 at the Student Wellness Service (SWS) testing centre at Mitchell Hall, which is currently operating on extended hours until March 19. During that period, students can book testing appointments Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Appointments can be booked by calling SWS at 613-533-2506; however, evening appointments—4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.—can also be booked through a new online portal.

A total of 160 cases have been identified at Queen’s since Aug. 31, including 24 in residence buildings and 136 off-campus. The Queen’s community has accounted for 19.6 per cent of all cases in the region. 

There are currently 69 active cases in the KFL&A region. Since the pandemic was declared last March, there have been 816 cases, including 27 confirmed variant of concern cases and one death.
