‘The Queen’s Journal’ vs ‘Western Gazette’: Fantasy Football series—Week 13

It feels like we’re in a game of back-and-forth with Western, alternating who wins every week. While we were dealt a loss last week, this pattern would indicate we’ll be coming out on top come Monday night. We’ve crafted a stellar lineup and are confident we’ll be gifting the ‘Stangs with a big ‘L’ this week—consider it an early Christmas present.

Start ’em:

Aaron Rodgers and the Packers will play host to the Philadelphia Eagles this week. The Eagles have really been struggling lately on both sides of the football. The same can’t be said for the Packers, who are on a roll—especially Rodgers, who had three or more touchdowns in all but one of his last six games. Look for Rodgers to find the end zone multiple times again this week against the hapless three-win Eagles squad.

Dalvin Cook’s Vikings will face off against the Jacksonville Jaguars. At this point, it doesn’t matter who the Vikings are playing—you’re going to be starting Cook regardless. He has never scored less than 10 points in a week. The added fact that he will get to play against a Jaguars defence, which gives the fourth-most fantasy points to running backs, makes this week that much sweeter for his owners. Cook is an easy start this week.

Tyreek Hill and the Chiefs will play the Denver Broncos this week. Like Dalvin Cook, Hill is a must-start every week as the key weapon in the Chiefs high powered offence. Hill is the number one wide receiver in fantasy right now and posted an absurd stat line last week, which included 13 catches for 269 yards and three touchdowns. He will be going up against a sub-par Broncos secondary that will have their hands full with the Chiefs offence this week. Hill is another no brainer to start this week.

T.J. Hockenson and the Detroit Lions will face off against the Chicago Bears this week in what should be a fun, if uninspiring, divisional matchup. Hockenson has quietly become the third-ranked tight end in fantasy this year; he has only played two games in which he put up less than 10 fantasy points. This week’s matchup against the Chicago Bears defence may make you wary of starting Hockenson, but it shouldn’t. The Bears have been surprisingly bad at covering tight ends and actually give up the second-most points to the position in the NFL. That makes Hockenson a sneaky high upside start this week in fantasy.

The Miami Dolphins are set to take on the Cincinnati Bengals this week. The Bengals will be without a starter since first overall pick Joe Burrow suffered a season-ending knee injury. Instead, Brandon Allen will play starting quarterback. Allen was unremarkable in his first start last week and that doesn’t look like it will change against this Dolphins defence. Brian Flores’ defensive unit has been improving all season long, to the point where they are one of the best in the NFL.

Sit ’em

Deshaun Watson and the Houston Texans take on the Indianapolis Colts this week after Houston carried on the Thanksgiving Day tradition of beating the Detroit Lions. However, this week Watson takes on a dominant Colts defence; he has also lost every game he’s played against a team with a winning record this season. Given Watson’s difficulty with tough defences, having been sacked multiple times in all but two games this year, this game should prove a challenge.

Ezekiel Elliot and the Dallas Cowboys take on the Baltimore Ravens this week as the Cowboys look to recover a shred of pride after a blowout Thanksgiving loss that included a disastrous fake punt attempt. Elliot has continued his cold streak, having scored only one touchdown since Week Six and having the fewest rushing attempts of the season last game. His catch percentage didn’t fare better, hitting another season-low. Facing a tough Ravens defence, Elliot should have trouble asserting himself.

Cedrick Wilson and the Dallas Cowboys take on the Baltimore Ravens this week as Cowboys desperately look for a win and the Ravens aim to bounce back from a loss to the Steelers. Wilson’s targets have been inconsistent, comprising of just seven targets in the past five games. His work on special teams has also been limited, having returned only four punts on the season, the longest for six yards. Facing a tough Ravens team and a limited workload, Wilson looks ready to have a quiet game.

Zach Ertz and the Philadelphia Eagles take on the Green Bay Packers as the Eagles hope to snag a win to continue chasing the Giants and Washington for the top spot in the NFC East. Ertz will be returning from an injury sustained in Week Six against Baltimore. Before that injury, Ertz had only one touchdown, coming in Week One in a loss against Washington, and never broke 70 yards in a single game. The Packers will offer a tough matchup though as their defence is ranked 12 overall and seventh in passing.

The Denver Broncos take on the Kansas City Chiefs as the Broncos come off a quarterback-less loss to the Saints, and Mahomes outdueled Brady for a win in Tampa. Though the Broncos defence is ranked 10 in the league, their passing defence is ranked 26, a fatal flaw when facing Mahomes, who’s thrown 17 touchdown passes with only a single interception in six weeks on his way to six straight wins. Considering the Chiefs handily beat Denver in Week Seven, the Broncos should have trouble stopping the reigning champions.
